livers and livers,
pulsing, smiling,
tasting bits of crushed stars
unimmune, wiling,
so i’ll look up for you, alone and supine,
lounging among beds of cloud i cannot see.
you’re my liver, i’m your liver, divine livers, broken livers, breathing livers, rotted livers;
i have two kidneys and one cousin,
dancing so they shake,
then lying still to hear their quiet beat;
like one day, your cousins fell away,
and now i’m regurgitating poems of your failures
as often as i jump so my kidneys move.
and i recalled, you wrote to me once and said
sip at ginger tea for the other one, and now i’m doing so!
